Badger sett disturbance
investigated
11th May 2003 - BBC News
An attempt to disturb a badger set is being investigated by
police.
A spokeswoman for Bedfordshire Police said officers were looking
for people who put oil-soaked rags near the entrance of a badger set
towards the end of last week.
The incident happened at a badger set in the graveyard of All
Saints Church, Renhold, north Bedfordshire.
The spokeswoman said there was clearly an attempt to drive the
badgers away.
She said this would constitute a criminal offence punishable by
up to six months in prison or a fine.
Wildlife officer, Police Constable Martin Anstee, who is
investigating the case, said he would like to hear from anyone who
saw anything suspicious in the area.
