West Yorkshire Police operation to catch poachers
13 August 2010 - BBC News
West Yorkshire Police is warning poachers that specialist officers are
targeting those involved in the wildlife crime. Deer poaching, hare coursing,
badger baiting and fish poaching are the main areas of concern, the force said.
A spokesman said it was responding to a recent increase in the number of
poaching incidents reported. He added that specialist equipment would be used to
track those responsible and bring them to justice.
PC Sally Smart said: "Poachers can be charged with many offences including
criminal damage and theft. They will face arrest and conviction and the seizure
of any vehicles and dogs used in the crimes."
