Description | |
Brock the badger, with his white
streaked head and cuddly, ungainly, body, holds a special place in our
affections. Sadly, this attractive mammal, indigenous to Britain since before
human-time, has been so persecuted that its name has been taken into the
language as a verb meaning to worry incessantly. As an object of suspicion and
superstition, the badger was too often killed and was in real danger of eventual
extinction.
Peter Hardy, in his capacity as a Member of Parliament, was responsible for the
passing of the Protection of Badgers Act, which affords them much better
protection than before. In this books, Peter Hardy reveals how attitudes are
changing for the better. |
Summary |
|
There is much more to this book than
simple politics; as the book includes some very good descriptions of the badger
itself, its habits and habitat; and is nicely illustrated with some excellent
pen and ink drawings. |
