Ludlow Breakfast (formerly Croft Cottage) in Shropshire
Your hosts, David and Elizabeth Hatchell, welcome you to Croft Cottage, situated on
the wildlife-rich southern slopes of the Titterstone Clee Hill in the tiny parish of Hope
Bagot. The cottage is surrounded by farmland deep in the countryside, far from
the throb of commuter traffic yet only five miles from Ludlow and Tenbury
Wells.
Guests are welcome to enjoy and
explore the five acres of developing garden which includes an old wild flower
meadow with orchids, a newly planted wood and a brook, its banks lined with
alders. David and Elizabeth have an active badger sett in the grounds which you may watch from
the comfort of a hide. Buzzards, bees and butterflies complete the picture.
During fine weather there are
plenty of seats in the garden for the use of guests. In autumn 2001 they dug a
large pool which we hope will be used by wildlife and are currently planting
more trees.
